Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hello y'all, my name is Denny. I was found running down the highway in traffic. I was so skinny, stinking like a skunk infested with fleas/ ticks and heartworms. That was then. The man who rescued me off of the highway brought me home. He had other dogs, goats, and children. I adored the children most.
Then, a rescue was contacted to take care of me. These people are so nice. They spoil me rotten. It is like living in a dog park, going camping and just hanging out with them. I am housetrained, leash trained, crate trained (when I want to or when there is some super treat in there), and doggy door trained. I am not a barking sort of fellow. But, I am aware of my surroundings, watchful.
I like to be snuggling, sitting (laying) next to you. If given a chance I would like to slowly sneak up into your lap to just hang out. I like to chase balls, not great at bringing them back (I am eager to please you). My ideal family would be active with walks/ hikes, being around the water or beach (I love the water), camping and just hanging out. I saw snow this last winter of 2023 and I loved it. I just could not get enough of it.

Additional adoption info
We are very careful with our adoptions for these orphans are in our homes. They are family to us. If it does not feel right, there is probably a reason. The adoption is cancelled.

More about this rescue
My name is Carla Carlton. We (my husband and I) are retired militay. He served in the Air Force for 25 years. We have always done some sort of servicing the community. So, when we got ready to retire, we found a place we wanted to live and bought a home. Well, the town we lived in has/had a high kill shelter. This broke our hearts.
Around this same time, I met a lady who fostered for Friends of Homeless Animals, RI. One day I got a call from FOHA there was a poodle in our shelter and he was on the short list. I went and pulled him. Roie (FOHA), helped set me up to foster and list our orphans from here as a courtesy post. I am not sure how long ago it was, 16-18 years, I think. The rest is history. Through them and Mountain Pet Rescue, CO (and a few others in CO, UT, IA, IL, OR, CA, MS...), we have placed over 2400 dogs/ puppies and cats.
