My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Our pets are ALL physically located and fostered in Mt.Airy, NC. Once adopted we can transport to your location or any of our northeastern delivery locations. We have a cost effective transporter who runs every other week.

Hansel came in with his sister Gretel. Hansel was in pretty bad shape when he ended up at the shelter He had a leg injury and he was emaciated. He is on the right track now. His leg is healed and he is gaining weight. He is a super sweet goofy boy. The vet said he is around 2 to 4 years old but he is closer to the 2 mark he assumes. Hansel loves people. He is good with children to but due to his size and the fact he is an active dog he would be best in a home with older children. He does not like cats. He is great in the house and he is potty trained. He will even use pee pads if needed. If I had to note any "cons" about him it will be the fact he pulls hard on a leash. That is easily corrected, and he is very trainable. He loves riding in the car and will load up willingly. If you are not familiar with german shepherds please be aware they shed badly. So if you do not want to deal with hair do not apply to adopt one. I would love to keep Hansel and Gretel together if possible. I would give a discount if adopted together. Hansel would do better in a home with another large breed female if he can't go with his sister.

He is neutered. had all his shots, current on heart worm testing(negative) and on preventive, and microchipped. The adopter will get all his medical records with adoption.

We require an adoption application to adopt. You can get that on the website at www.saveamuttkennel.net

Go meet their pets

We do not have a physical location. Our pets are all fostered in NC until they are adopted. We can provide affordable transport with adoption. We also have a return policy in place for those adoptions that do not work out. We know long distance adoptions can be hard, we try to make it as easy as possible.

Mission Statement

To obtain dogs & cats from shelters and pounds located in the southern states with high euthanasia rates. We will advocate for that animal in hopes of finding them a new forever home. We will provide the ground work for the pet such as spay/neuter, vaccinations, vet care and basic training.
