My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This little girl had been seen for months darting along the fencline of a freeway on ramp and dipping into adjacent business parking lots looking for food.  When trapped and no owner came looking for her she began her journey to learn love and trust. She was scared and tentative about everything.  She shook and tried to disappear when approached.  With time and patience the switch flipped and she has not looked back.

Schluter now approaches every person she sees, puts her feet up, wags her tail and begs to be pet or picked up.  She is extremely social, trusts quickly, loves attention and would be happy to spend her life in the arms or on the lap of her new person with no use of her feet!  She is learning better leash skills and now eagerly walks with her long legs and wagging tail beside her handlers with intial coaxing. She has met children, men, women and dogs.  She is down to experience anything life has to offer and although sometimes tentative quickly overcomes her trepidations.

Because of months in her early years perfecting her panic button to survive she is a flight risk so cannot be left unattended in a yard, crated is a must when you are gone, tight grip on the leash on adventures and her new family must be aware of open doors and windows.  No off leash activites for life in unfenced areas.  Are you ready to open your heart and home to give this girl the love she'll return tenfold?

More about this rescue

We are an organization founded to assist owners with missing pets through coaching, field work and humane trapping. This extends to securing street strays who we exit when no owner comes forward. We rehab and evaluate each dog for an appropriate fit for adoption.
