My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Hatch Date: 2018+

Sonny is a timid, quiet male (Not DNA tested)
6+ year old Cockatiel.

His original owner has become too ill to care for him longer and
asked us to help find him a safe place to land.

He is very aware of things happening around him but is a bit
fearful of coming out of his cage.
He is not a flyer, will glide to the floor and hop around.
He is not hand-tame, but not aggressive either.

Very neat and clean boy, who hardly makes a peep.
He is familiar with the noise of dogs barking, and
other birds making noises and is fine with them.

We are hoping to find a home that will allow him to be a bird,
and not expect too much from him.

Sonny is being fostered in Leonardo, NJ.

He will only be adopted into a forever home within driving distance.
We will not ship our birds.

For the Love of Birds is a group of dedicated
foster homes throughout NJ and Eastern PA

We do not have a central location.
As Sonny is currently living in a volunteer's private home
we will only allow approved applicants to make visits.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

The adoption procedure begins with completing an adoption application and returning it to us. We will check your references and then call you for a telephone interview. While we check your references, we will ask that you review an educational power point presentation. After your application is approved, it is our policy that you visit with the bird(s) three times to have multiple interactions with them and give you time to consider the adoption and get ready for your new family member. There is an adoption fee for each bird.
