My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

*** Hi there! I'm happy-go-lucky Jasper! ***

I'm a handsome Siberian Husky/Shepherd mix who is estimated to be around 3 years old and weighs 48 lbs.

Jasper is the perfect name for me because, like the gem I'm named for, I'm known for my "glittering personality, "colorful coat, and trademark "precious smile! I'm excited to show my new family I am all this and more! My volunteer buddies will tell you that I am also outgoing, happy, and as sweet as the pupsicles I get to enjoy during enrichment!

The best part of my day is when a volunteer buddy comes up to my kennel to take me out for a walk and playtime. I walk well on my leash, with an occasional stop to sniff and to read and send pee-mails to my shelter pals. In the yard I enjoy running along the yard fence with certain other doggos. My volunteer friends always tell me I'm a smart boy! I love to show off my skills on our agility equipment in the yard (you should see me on the ramp!), I sit very easily, and come back when called.

I especially love learning new tricks, and of course getting a treat! That treat could be something yummy, cuddles and pets, or a good ol' squeaky toy! I love squeaky toys so much I've been known to try to hide them outside when I'm in the yard.

I'm also quite the socialite and you'll find me greeting every hooman who comes my way with happy tail wags and a smile that will melt your heart. Sometimes during the zoomies I get in the yard, I'll check on my volunteer pal and lean in for some cuddles.

My volunteer buddies say they rarely see me without a smile on my face. The only time I may not have a smile is when I see cats. I'm very curious about them and it would be best if there weren't any in my new home.

Although I can be quite exuberant in my kennel, it's because I really don't like being in there - I'd much rather be visiting with you! If you take me home, I will follow your lead and I'm eager to make my new furever family happy! If you're looking for a lovable boy who will make a great companion and be right by your side for adventures outdoors or sweet calming cuddles indoors, I'm your guy!

Let's spend some time together and see if we are pawsibly a good match!

** Jasper would be best suited for a home with adults and teens **

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Please browse our adoptable animals. We make every effort to keep our listings updated.

Each of our animals has contact information in the description - either referencing the phone number of the foster volunteer who is fostering the animal or East County Animal Shelter contact information if a shelter animal.

If you have questions, please use the contact information in the description directly. We attempt to forward emails sent to contact@tvar.org to the foster though it is not necessarily before the animal is adopted. Also, volunteers who monitor this email do not know the animals whereas the fosters do!

If a dog or puppy is in foster with TVAR, please fill out an adoption application (available here: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/TVAR/Dog). We consider each application and pick the best one for the animal in question. In general, we do not do out of area adoptions. Kittens do not need applications completed - just contact the foster!

If an animal is at ECAS, they have their own adoption process. Please go to ECAS (they are open daily 11:30am to 5:30pm except holidays) to meet the animal and learn about ECAS's adoption process.

All TVAR animals are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, treated for worms and fleas, and microchipped. Felines are FIV/FeLV tested. Many of our pets also come with a "packed bag" that can include a variety of goodies like bedding, food, toys, leashes, and even private training sessions with our professional trainers. Adoption fees vary by species. Our fee range is $120-$350. The foster volunteer can provide specifics for the animals in their care.

Go meet their pets

**Please go to www.tvar.org to check adoption event status before going** Dog adoptions take place at the Pleasanton Farmers Market, at the park on the corner of First and Angela streets, every Saturday morning from 10am to 1pm. All of our adoptable dogs (and selected ECAS dogs) are available on our website and on adopt-a-pet.com.

Kittens adoptions take place every Saturday and Sunday from 11 am to 3 pm at the Dublin PetSmart, pending availability. During kitten season (March to December), we have way more kittens than we could ever hope to post online, so come visit us at PetSmart to see our selection.

All of our adoptable animals can also be met/adopted by appointment made directly with the foster volunteers.

More about this rescue

Tri-Valley Animal Rescue (TVAR) was founded in 1992 and is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization serving the East Bay (San Francisco Bay Area). We primarily place shelter animals in foster care of TVAR volunteers while trying to find them permanent homes. Although we do not have a facility of our own, we help over 1000 animals find forever homes yearly through the hard work and dedication of our East County Animal Shelter shelter volunteers who socialize shelter animals daily and assist the public in selecting a pet to adopt.

We have a variety of volunteer programs including a shelter program and four foster programs. We are always looking for more volunteers - especially fosters. If you are interested in volunteering with us, please check out our volunteer page (https://www.tvar.org/volunteer/) for information.
