My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Cody, our 4-year-old orange tabby cat with an inspiring tale. His journey started when he was, unfortunately, suspected to be dumped.

However, a compassionate Good Samaritan stepped in. Over several weeks this kind soul not only fed him but also brought him into her home. During this process, Cody's rescuer discovered that he had FIV, likely from a scuffle with a feral tomcat and ensured he was neutered, highlighting their dedication to Cody's well-being.

Following these efforts, Cody was taken to the Rogue Valley Humane Society and promptly brought to Sanctuary One. According to this past caretaker and proven by our staff and volunteers Cody is a genuine snuggle bug, ready to share affection with a new family!

Since Cody is FIV+ he will need to be an indoor cat only.

Additional adoption info

Most, but not all, of the Sanctuary's animals are available for adoption because the more animals we adopt out, the more endangered animals we can take in.

Every animal adopted from Sanctuary One comes with a lifetime promise. If something happens and you can no longer care for the animal you adopt, he or she is always welcome back at the Sanctuary.

Each animal available for adoption has been evaluated by a veterinarian and is current on vaccinations. They’ve also undergone a basic behavioral assessment and have had their diets evaluated and specialized as needed.

In addition, our staff provides free telephone/email counseling for all adopters. If you have any questions or concerns about your adopted animal, contact us and we'll do our very best to help you.

More about this rescue

Sanctuary One at Double Oak Farm is a nonprofit care farm where people, animals, and the earth work together for mutual healing.

Care farming (also known as green care, farm care, or farming for health), is well established in Europe, but is a relatively new concept in the United States.

Sanctuary One demonstrates how farming for health can be a cheap, natural, and effective means of healing people; how animals can be treated humanely and honored for their intrinsic physical and spiritual value; and how the environment that sustains us all can be steadily improved through organic and permaculture-inspired farming practices.
