My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

On a scale of 1 to boopable, Mr. Chatter Cheeks is off the charts most boop worthy cutie face guy around! This fella got his name for those chubby cheeks often seen on male cats that are not neutered and their testosterone gives them a big ole noggin. He also happens to be super chatty and loves to chirp and purr at anyone who will listen. In addition to his cute factor being max levels, he also happens to have a whole bunch of quirks! Mr. Chatter Cheeks immediately wiggled his way into our hearts. He was at risk of euthanasia in a rural North Carolina shelter when volunteers wanted to ensure he could find his way to a rescue to provide medical care. The reality is, FIV+ cats don't always have a good chance of making it out of a shelter alive even though it is a totally manageable virus that will have little impact on a kitty that lives indoors with minimal stress. Mr. Chatter Cheeks has seen our vets so we could get him feeling his best and ready for a forever home. He does have a few things his future family should know about like his smooshed paw and limp from arthritis in his hips from a past injury (we have started an arthritis injection called solensia which has been a big help for him). This boy is the SWEETEST and will make his future family SO HAPPY! He's affectionate, silly and CHATTY, of course! We're so happy he found his way to us so we can ensure he has the life he deserves.

Additional adoption info

We have a Foster-To-Adopt program that allows you to test the cat in your home for a period of time on a trial basis before finalizing the adoption. In fact, when you have another pet in the home (whether it’s a dog, another cat, birds, rabbit, ferret, etc.) or you have young kids or elderly parents living with you, we recommend that you do a Foster-To-Adopt to make sure it is a good fit for you and your family as well as resident pets and the Tails High cat or kitten(s) you’ve selected. Our goal is to make every effort to match people with the cats or kittens that fit their lifestyle and vice versa.

What costs are involved in adopting a cat from Tails High?

All of the cats and kittens at Tails High are fully vetted at the time of adoption. They are FELV/FIV combo tested, vaccinated against rabies and distemper, and they have been spayed or neutered to protect against the feline population increasing.

As of May 2015, the adoption fee is $145 for single cat or kitten and $225 for a pair. This is a huge savings to the adopter considering if you took the same cat to a veterinarian for a spay or neuter surgery and vaccinations the cost would be upwards of $300-500 per cat.

Visit our web site to complete an adoption application. or send an email to us at meow@tailshigh.org and a Tails High representative will contact you promptly.

More about this rescue

Our Organization

Tails High is a cat rescue and adoption organization based in Alexandria, Virginia founded and staffed by compassionate volunteers who find joy in placing stray, abandoned, or homeless cats and kittens in permanent loving homes. We know that there is a perfect rescue cat for everyone.

In making wonderful feline-human matches, Tails High is dedicated to helping both rescued cats and kittens and their human families by providing wonderful cats to people looking for a sympathetic ear and a soft purr. We believe that cats are ideal companions: highly intelligent, and therapeutic.

Our Cats

All our cats and kittens have tested negative for feline leukemia and FIV, are current on their vaccinations, and have been or will be spayed or neutered prior to adoption. We spend a lot of time playing and cuddling with our rescue kitties, as well as socializing them, and making sure they learn to love their people as much as their people love them.
