My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Tumi!

It’s been a long road but Tumi is finally ready to find his forever home!

Tumi was originally found at a metro area landfill back in November along with his buddy. Whether they were dumped there, as is unfortunately very common, or whether they wandered up on their own, we will never know. But sadly, Tumi’s buddy was hit by a car and killed just outside the landfill driveway, spooking Tumi and he disappeared again for weeks. When he turned back up, though, the sanitation workers made a vow to help him and so they reached out to MB who had tried to help them with a “dump dog” in the past. This time, she was able to get out there and pick up Tumi before he could disappear again and he’s been safe in an RMG foster home since mid-January. Kennel cough and scheduling delays for his neuter delayed his adoption just a bit but now all of that has been taken care of and Tumi is ready to start the best chapter of his life yet!

Tumi is truly the sweetest and happiest boy around! At right around 60 lbs, he’s a big boy for sure but not overwhelmingly so. He’s great with other dogs and wants nothing more than a new BFF who will truly cherish him like he deserves instead of just throwing him out with the trash!! Ohhhhh and his name? We thought he needed a strong durable one and one that could withstand hard times but was worth a lot - so he was named after the “ Tumi “ brand of luggage and goods hahaha !

As a result of Tumi's time wandering on his own, he did test positive for heartworms. This is so so common in the dogs we rescue though and with proper treatment they all go on to lead long, healthy and happy lives! RMG utilizes a slow kill method of treatment studied an Atlanta area veterinary cardiologist. We provide all of the medications for the treatment and follow up heartworm testing at the end of the protocol.
