My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Xavier!

Xavier was one of two large dogs that came to us from a hoarding case in the winter of 2023. His group of 30+ dogs were all pulled from a home where the owner never socialized them at all. Xavier was born on the property in 2019, his dad was a husky mix, but we are unsure what breed his mom was as she passed away several years before our involvement. Whatever she was, Xavier likely inherited his cute, expressive ears and reddish coat from her. He weighs in at about 40lbs, and although he was born in 2019, Xavier is learning what it's like to play and have fun for the first time. While he was completely feral when he came into our care, HSDC staff has spent lots of time socializing with him and pairing him with other dogs who are social, and he's made great progress! Xavy is really opening up. He loves to play with other dogs, but as always we require a meet and greet if you already have any at home. He also has developed a love for playing with toys and stuffed animals! This handsome guy is truly learning what it means to cut loose and have a little fun, and we want nothing more than to help him find a family that can make him feel truly at home.

Xavier is fully vetted and microchipped, but not yet neutered. His adoption fee is $175 + a refundable $75 neuter deposit. He is considered a flight risk as he is still pretty shy and scared of leashed, so a fully fenced yard is required to take him home.
