Looking for a cat with a big personality? I'm your man! I have my lovey, pet me pet me pet me moments, then I get a tad overstimulated and I will let you know with a bap or a nibble. Why adopt a cat if you can't expect a little sass to keep life interesting? Unfortunately, my owner passed away and none of the family was able to take me in, so they brought me to CCHS to be sure I am safe until I found a new home. I've calmed down a lot since coming to the shelter, and I think once I am settled into a home I will do even better. The staff likes to refer to me as endearingly rude at times, which I take offense to because someone has to keep these hoomans in line! Despite my occasional spunk, I really am a nice cat. I just need someone who understands me. Could that be you?

*We DO NOT transfer dogs to other shelters or transport for the purpose of adoption. We do not adopt over 350 miles away.

Meet the Pet

You MUST be able/willing to come to the shelter to meet the animal you are interested in.

All animals are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and dewormed before adoption.

More about this shelter

It is the primary mission of CCHS to operate a "no time limits" shelter for domestic (non-feral) dogs and cats from Keweenaw, Houghton, and Baraga Counties and the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community in accordance with the guidelines set by the Michigan Department of Agriculture. The shelter receives animals from animal control and private citizens. CCHS works to return lost animals to their owners and to identify suitable homes for the remaining animals. These animals are not judged by "time of stay" to determine adoptability. Euthanasia will be considered per veterinarian recommendation based on health, temperament and quality of life and will only be performed by a veterinarian. While in our care, animals receive professional, quality care by concerned individuals dedicated to helping animals.
