My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Mira will melt your heart with her sweet and affectionate personality. She is a playful girl and loves to play fetch. She is a little shy and needs some extra encouragement. Mira would do well in a home that will help her build some confidence and show her the world isn’t so scary. She just needs some patience and a mellow environment to help her come out of her shell. Once she is comfortable, she really enjoys playing and shows her silly side more. Mira can’t wait to meet you. She is currently taking a break from the shelter and is spending some time in a foster home. She is available to meet by appointment. Give us a call at 530 587 5948 or email adoptions@hstt.org to set up an appointment.

Mira is spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccines. Her adoption fee is $150. Please email adoptions@hstt.org for more information.

*We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each dog based on personality and the behavior we’ve observed rather than a breed label.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Pet ownership is a serious responsibility. The policy of the Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe is to ensure that each person who adopts a pet not only is aware of the responsibility, but that each person is willing and able to accept that responsibility morally, physically and financially. Not every person who desires to own a pet should own a pet.

The adoption application is designed to help us make the best placement possible — the right home for each animal and the right animal for your home. The adoption process takes time because we are committed to giving you all the information and support you need to have a successful adoption. We ask for your patience and cooperation in the joyful process of bringing people and animals together.

TO BE CONSIDERED FOR AN ADOPTION, YOU MUST:
• Be at least 18 years of age.
• Provide a suitable confined area for the animal.
• Understand that the Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe reserves the right to deny any adoption.

Our adoption fees are as follows: Dogs (over four months) = $110.00 Puppies (under four months) = $160.00 Cats (over four months) = $75.00 Kittens (under four months) = $100.00 Adoption fees will be due upon completion of adoption. Cash, check or credit cards are gladly accepted.

Go meet their pets

Our shelter is located at 10961 Stevens Lane in Truckee, and we are open to the public Monday through Saturday from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm. We encourage potential adopters to come to the shelter to meet the animal they are interested in adopting during our public hours! Every pet adopted from the Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe will be spayed or neutered, vaccinated & microchipped.

More about this shelter

The Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe is dedicated to saving and improving the lives of pets through adoption, community spay/neuter and humane education programs. Founded in 1994 by a group of committed volunteers, the Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe has become the driving force in animal rescue and adoption for the Truckee region. Over time, we have grown from a small grass roots entity to a nationally recognized non-profit organization with seven employees and hundreds of dedicated volunteers.
