My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Smokey always reminds us of a painting. His soft fur and soulful eyes evoke the beauty of a serene painting. He’s like a living work of art, waiting for his forever family to discover him. A dilute grey tabby and white young male, 11 months old. He’s a gentle companion who loves cuddles and companionship. He gets along well with other cats, making him an ideal addition to a multi-cat household. He loves to have buddies. Please let us know if you’re ready to open your heart and home to this sweetie. Your love and care can make all the difference in his life! The adoption fee is a donation to our rescue, and the amount is at your discretion. Please fill out the adoption form on our website, https://www.duetteanimalrescueteam.org/online-adoption-application. Priority is given to that application. Manatee, Hillsborough, Sarasota, and Pinellas counties only. Thank you for caring.

More about this rescue

We founded the Duette Animal Rescue Team (DART) in 2020 in Manatee County. DART is a volunteer-based animal welfare organization dedicated to rescuing former domestic and exotic pets such as prosimians and cats with behavioral challenges. We learned about the plight for exotic pets held in captivity and lack of understanding of the care they need as wild animals. We support causes that advocate for the conservation of these species in the wild in their native countries. By working with a network of zo's, private owners, zoo staff volunteer advocates, foster caregivers, local veterinarians, trainers, and shelters,
DART strives to rescue animals and provide these animals with behavioral rehabilitation and care. We catch cats to assist with the management of stray cat overpopulation in the community. We rehabilitate the cats so that we can put them up for adoption and have a better quality of life. For example, cat litter box training and socialization.
