Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Ruby, our newest Special Needs Baby!! She is the most beautiful 2 year old chiweenie we have ave met. Ruby was dumped at the shelter in horrible shape. She was underweight, covered in urine and feces, and terrified. She has opened up beautifully in foster care and is slowly acclimating to the good life.
Shortly after we brought Ruby into rescue, her foster called us to tell us she was having issues with her back legs. Four Legs Good NY NJ got us into their vet, and after xrays and evaluation, we got the sad news that Ruby has some significant deformities to her back legs.
Baby girl has luxating patellas in both knees and hip dysplasia on her right side. She doesn't seem to be in pain, but she can't walk or stand normally. As she gets older, she will be prone to arthritis and she may need surgery to fix her back legs. Maintaining her weight will be an important part of her life to avoid putting stress on her back end. She is currently on prescription supplements, and doing amazing. She is running and playing. They have been a game changer for her. She will need to continue to be on these but we hope that with the help of them, she wont need surgery down the line.
Ruby is one of the sweetest dogs we have ever had in fostercare. This news was devastating to us because she has already been through so much in her short little life. We want to provide the best home for our sweet girl so we will be adopting her out, but waiving her adoption fee. We want whoever adopts her to use those finances instead for whatever medical care she might need in the future.
Ruby is a sweetest girl. She loves to snuggle and spend time wrapped up in blankets in her doggie bed. She loves dogs and is doing great with meeting new people. She is only 8lbs currently and the doctor said she needs to gain a pound to reach a healthy weight. She loves car rides and other dogs. She is opening up beautifully and is learning that humans are kind and won't hurt her. She is sweet, playful, and the perfect lap dog. We know that there is a forever family out there who will love her the way we do.
