My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

50% Athlete, 50% Couch Potato

Meet Romaine! Romaine is located in a foster home in Spokane, WA and can be transported to your area. (See information below in the "Adoption Donation" section.)

Romaine, we are told, is a Blue Lacy, and he embodies the traits of one. These dogs are intelligent, alert, bold, affectionate, and active, and those words describe Romaine perfectly. Romaine's favorite activities include playing ball, running, taking short naps, car rides, and snuggles. Romaine walks extremely well on a slip lead leash. He loves cuddling as much as he enjoys playing.  Walking or binge watching – he’s up for either!

Romaine is smart, a goofball, and a cuddly boy. He enjoys toy puzzles (like slow feeders) and interactive toys. Romaine is house and crate trained, though he’d rather be with you. He can shake and sit; he equates learning with treats (an absolute favorite thing) and has the potential to expand his behavior repertoire to include more tricks and agility training. This pup is playful, friendly, and affectionate. His favorite down-time activity involves snuggles under the covers with his humans – what better way to spend a gloomy PNW day?

Romaine’s ideal home? One that enjoys an active lifestyle and would provide him with adventures and play while keeping the vibe of the home chill and relaxing. (A comfy couch and a favorite blanket would be most appreciated!) Romaine has done well in foster with cats who are dog-savvy.

Romaine is a lovable sweetheart who just needs someone willing to invest in some training to help with his quirks. We know that quality training can be a costly investment, so to help alleviate that cost, we are waiving our normal $450 minimum adoption donation so you can put that towards training instead.

Adopting from Path of Hope Rescue

  • At Path of Hope Rescue, our goal is to make EVERY DOG. WANTED. We are primarily a volunteer organization that focuses on transporting pregnant dogs and puppies from Texas, the number one kill state in America. The dogs we rescue are in poor living conditions and on euthanasia lists in shelters that are inundated with unwanted animals. We want to give these dogs a chance and bring them to the Pacific Northwest to find adoptive, loving homes.

  • Our adoption process sets us apart. We specialize in learning about you and your family to find just the right fit for you. Our Matchmakers are not only good at what they do; they will also guide you through the entire process.

  • Our Minimum Adoption Donation is $550 for puppies under a year and $450 for dogs one year and older. We are a WA state registered non-profit and rely heavily on adoption donations to cover the expenses associated with saving lives. Our dogs are spayed/neutered prior to adoption; microchipped with free lifetime registration; and up to date on DAPP, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccines (when age appropriate) and heartworm and deworming. Adopters can also earn a $100 training refund if they attend (6) hours of any in person training course.

  • We are 100% foster based; our dogs are fostered in loving homes where they are house and crate trained and learn basic obedience and leash skills. Dogs experience socialization opportunities with people, places, and other animals, and they receive the attention required to become well-rounded, healthy, and affectionate dogs that they would not otherwise receive in a shelter environment.

  • Our commitment does not end when the dog is adopted. Path of Hope offers post adoption owner support including information on making the dog’s transition to your home a smooth one; recommendations for Preferred Trainers; advice on pet behavior and wellness topics; Facebook litter groups to keep in touch with fellow adopters; and invitations to local rescue hosted events.

  • Adopters may choose to travel to Spokane to pick up their dog or use our monthly transport option, Puppy Delivery Express, for an additional delivery donation of $250.  Puppy Delivery Express currently delivers dogs throughout Washington and to parts of Montana, Idaho, and Oregon.
