My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Taffy | Female | 14 Weeks | Northern Mix | Dogs: Yes | Cats: Yes | Kids: Yes

Taffy was one of 8 born to the wonderful Tootsie Roll on Jan 27th!

Little Miss Taffy is such a sweet, fun, loving, loyal pup! Her whole body wiggles when she wags her tail. She exudes happiness!

She really enjoys car rides and is very calm, she usually falls asleep within minutes. She enjoys riding shotgun.

She comes to work with me and spends most of the day sleeping or relaxing with a bone under my desk and you wouldn't even know she's there. She does like to have little play breaks here and there. (Don't we all?!)

Taffy LOVES to play! She enjoys anything that squeaks, playing tug of war and fetch. Taffy would benefit from a fenced yard as she loves to run and play.

Taffy is a typical curious puppy so she needs to be supervised or contained so her curiosity/boredom doesn't get her into trouble with chewing things she shouldn't.

Taffy is very interested in people food but we are working on that and she settles quick once she realizes she's not getting any.

Taffy has met some children and has been nervous upon meeting them as she is with meeting any new people but she was gentle. I think she would be great with children who know how to act around puppies. She's great with our teenagers.

Taffy loves to be out exploring on nature walks where we can get away from the hustle and bustle of people and cars. She likes to chase blowing leaves and bugs! Taffy can be quite nervous if there are new people or other dogs around but she is getting more confident on our street. We've been spending time sitting outside the front of the house to build her confidence. Initially she usually tries to run back to the house but then she'll just and watch as they walk by.

We will be working on slow introductions to show her how fun other dogs can be.

Taffy loves working/thinking for her meals, especially when her kibble is wrapped in a dish cloth and tied in a knot! Just eating out of the bowl is a bit boring for her but she will do that sometimes.

Taffy can sit and usually comes when she's called. We're working on lay down, stay and shake a paw.

She's doing very well with house training! She's very good about doing her business quickly when she goes out and usually  goes to the door when she needs to go out.

We are working on crate/pen training. She does enjoy being in crates to have a treat or chew on a bone so it's going well. It may be due to her age but she does seems to have some separation anxiety.  Currently she has not been left alone as she gets quite anxious but we're confident that with continued crate training this will improve.

Taffy was of course an adorable teeny puppy but she is really growing into her looks and is a stunning dog with beautiful markings. People often compliment her on her beautiful colours and appearance. She has unique hind legs with double dew claws on her back feet.

Taffy is a lovely girl, she will make an awesome addition to a family!

Although they may be cute, puppies are a lot of work! Puppies need families that are home often to continue working on their house training and socialization. Their adoptive family must be committed to registering them for obedience classes.

Taffy is current on age appropriate vaccines. She is being fostered in Cambridge, ON.
