My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Norman! This sweet boy was surrendered to the shelter in Mississippi with his momma Nora. We have her too! They look so much alike. The family who had them surrendered them as they said Nora was mistake puppy and then Norman came along too. They couldn't keep everyone. Fetching Hearts Rescue took them both as they are both extremely sweet.

Norman is a very pup!!! He loves rolling around in the grass and running around with his friends. Norman loves pouncing around with both his human and doggy friends. He enjoys playing tag, throwing the toys around and playing tug a war and anything else exciting. Norman is very food motivated and enjoys his treats. We know that training should be an easy task him to do with his family. Norman will still need someone who doesn't leave him more than 3 hrs a day, willing to train him, has lots of time to attend to him and lots of patience. Puppies take lots of work, time and dedication. Fetching Hearts Rescue takes them very seriously, and will require that they go to training as this is their prime time to learn.

If you want to love Norman and have him join you and the family forever, apply for him now!!! He is lots of fun and has lots of love to give!!! Don't miss out on this handsome blue eyed baby!!

Unless otherwise indicated, all dogs adopted through Fetching Hearts have received the following before being available for adoption:

Thorough veterinary examination

All routine annual vaccinations, including Rabies, DHLPP, Bordatella (Kennel Cough), Heartworm Test, Fecal Test, Deworming, Microchip, Flea and Tick Prevention and Heartworm Prevention.

Spay/Neuter
All dogs are quarantined for two weeks outside of the shelter (puppies four weeks) to ensure they don't break with disease.

VETTING NOTE: Fetching Hearts Rescue completely vets our dogs thoroughly to the best of our knowledge based on communication with our Southern Vets. If anything is brought to our attention, we treat the dog. After adopting the dog, you will be responsible for following up with all vetting going forward.

HEARTWORM NOTE: Dogs who were treated for Heartworm can test positive up to 4-6 months after last treatment. All dogs are immediately put on Heartguard/Ivermectin following the treatment to kill the Heartworm larvae. All dogs should be re-tested after 5-6 months from the last Heartworm treatment.

More about this rescue

Fetching Hearts Rescue is a non-profit 501(c)(3), volunteer run rescue that is dedicated to saving dogs who have been abused, neglected or abandoned and finding loving, caring homes for them.

We rely on a network of foster families so that each dog that we pull into the safety of our rescue is placed in a foster home and is no longer confined to a life in a kennel.

We are committed to helping dogs of all ages, breeds and sizes by partnering with shelters and animal control services right here in Connecticut as well as with several high kill shelters in the South.

We do a full assessment of each dog's temperament and health to ensure that we are able to find the most suitable home for them. Every dog is fully vetted - meaning they are up to date on vaccinations, spayed/neutered, heartworm negative and micro chipped - before being adopted.

The ASPCA estimates that approximately 3.3 million dogs in the United States enter shelters each year, of which approximately 670,000 are euthanized*. Our goal is to advocate for and provide education about the need for spaying and neutering to eliminate what has become an epidemic of unwanted dogs.*
