Clarence's love for back scratches isn't just adorable, it's also scientifically proven to be beneficial! Petting and scratching a dog releases oxytocin, the "love hormone," not just in the dog, but in the human too, promoting bonding and reducing stress for both. So, those back scratches won't just make Clarence happy; they'll make you happy too! Despite coming to our shelter in rough shape, Clarence defied the odds and pulled through. Initially bashful, he blossoms into a spunky boy with a voice that demands to be heard, especially after a few back scratches. Clarence's true joy comes from the company of other dogs, making him a perfect companion for a home with a furry friend. As for how he feels about cats, well, that's still a mystery to be solved. He dreams of a life indoors with a cozy spot on the couch, surrounded by the warmth of his loving family, where he can bask in the simple pleasures of being spoiled rotten. To meet Clarence, please call 843-249-4948 to schedule an appointment, or you can submit an application at https://humanesocietynmb.org/dog-adoption-form/

HSNMB does not hold animals and all adoptions are done on a first-come, first-served basis in person at the shelter. Once the adoption is completed and the fee is paid, you must take the animal with you at that time.
Please be sure to bring a photo ID and cash or a credit card for the adoption fee. The primary caregiver is required to be present to go through the adoption process. Any children 5 and under and, in some cases, any existing dogs living in the home will be required to be present and meet the animal prior to adopting. Meet and greets are not required for all animals, but may be deemed necessary by HSNMB staff for specific pets.
Adoption Fees:
Cats (over 6 months of age): $60
Kittens (under 6 months of age): $100
Dogs (over 6 months of age): $110
Puppies (under 6 months of age): $140
Seniors ages 60 and up qualify for discounted adoptions fees.
