My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

In Bidwell, Ohio - Bailey Mae will steal your heart! Bailey is a petite, 40ish lb Aussie cattle dog mix and is about 15 months old.

Bailey came from a local shelter where we were told she was picked up as a stray by a kind elderly couple. Bailey is fun, sweet, cuddly, and so athletic! She has quickly become best friends with her fur brother Australian shepherd Cattle dog mix. She has been known to herd him a little around the house, but never aggressively and it hasn’t been a problem. She has become fast friends with any medium or large-sized dogs she has met that have visited her foster home.

Bailey Mae loves her 2 and 4 year old human siblings and has been WONDERFUL with them (even when the 2 year old is a little too rough with her). She shows no signs of aggression, nipping, or herding. She has also been around many visiting cousins ages 6-10 and been equally gentle with them. She loves all people she meets regardless of gender or size and is very friendly to all.

Bailey Mae is crate trained and sleeps happily through the night in her crate without a peep, patiently waiting to be let out in the morning. She doesn’t love being left in the crate when her humans need to leave during the day, but she will go in with a treat. She is almost completely housebroken. She has gotten to the point where if she gets outside regularly in a good routine, she is pretty unlikely to have an accident. She needs a little more time, patience, and consistency to be 100% on this.

She is not food aggressive at all, but is definitely food obsessed. If food is left unattended on the counter or table, she will find it! Can you blame her after being a hungry stray? She is an incredible jumper and is SO fast. She adores a game of fetch with a tennis ball and will wow you with her abilities to catch the ball. She is equally happy after a fun game of fetch to curl up on the couch and rest with you.

Bailey shows a very high prey drive with small animals. Her current yard is too large to be fenced (farm setting) and she is showing instincts to chase after a neighboring outdoor cat and small dog. She has never injured them, but her foster family feels that she might if given the opportunity. For the safety of Bailey and the small animals, her ideal home would have no cats or small-sized dogs and a secure (preferably privacy) fence. She has also done well with cattle, showing no interest in chasing adults or calves and making no attempts to cross under the electric fence. (An unfenced yard in a rural setting with no small pets or livestock would be considered.)

Bailey needs room to run and play safely. She would enjoy a friendly, similarly sized dog to play with or she could be the only dog and get all of the playtime with her humans. Bailey will warm your heart, cuddle you, love your children, and make an excellent family pet if given the chance!

Bailey Mae is spayed, UTD on her vaccines, microchipped and on HW and flea prevention. All adoption fees go to help other pups like Bailey Mae. There will be a $20 fee to transfer her microchip. Bailey Mae is being fostered in Bidwell, OH.
