Bandit needs someone who will train him, have a fenced yard with a single family home and be home with him most of the day. Aptly named, Bandit has stolen our hearts! At a fully-grown 30-pounds, 3-year-old Bandit is the perfect size for snuggles, which is terrific, because snuggling is his favorite activity! He'll play if you want to play and happily walk if you want to walk, but where Bandit truly excels is at arranging his soft self in a way to maintain maximum contact with the closest seated human. He'll lean in, he'll lay across your legs, he'll wiggle into your lap... whatever it takes to give and get affection! Before Animal Control rescued him, Bandit was living in an outdoor pen with a few BIG dogs who did not want him around. Over and over again, Bandit would escape, roaming the neighborhood in search of kinder company. No matter how bad things got, Bandit never lost sight of the dream -- a place INDOORS, with a couch or soft bed, and a human or humans to call his very own. If all goes well and you decide to pursue adoption, you will be asked to complete a pre-adopt. Once your family, including any dogs, have also met with the dog you wish to adopt, your application will be submitted to the Adoption Committee for review. We estimate the pre-adoption process can take up to 14 days or longer.
Please note: AAS is committed to finding the best fit for each of our dogs. For this reason, we will accept multiple applications for a dog. In the case of multiple applications, we will select the applicant that is the best fit based on the needs of the dog.
Adoption fee for puppy/adult dogs is $280.00.
Adoption fee for senior dogs is $140.00.
Dogs qualify as a senior based on their stature/weight and age. The scale below shows the age at which a dog attains “senior” designation:
0-20 lbs: 11 years
21-50: 10 years
51-90: 8 years
91+: 7 years

The purpose of the Society shall be to provide to/and or for animals, other than man, shelter, medical aid, care and protection, to act as a placement agency for animals in good health, and to provide education for the humane care and treatment of animals, and to attempt to prevent cruelty to animals. We are a nonprofit organization that receives no funding from state or federal agencies. All of the funds required to maintain the shelter and care for the dogs come from donations and special fund-raising events. Donations to the shelter are tax deductible.
Our dogs are not euthanized for space. This means that new dogs can only be accepted by the shelter when we have an available kennel.

Current on vaccinations
Spayed or neutered
Regularly walked and exercised
Socialized and loved
Temperament tested
