My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Introducing Ireland!

The 2 year old Pitbull mix weighing 20 lbs, with boundless energy! Ireland is ready to bring joy and happiness into your home, bringing laughter everywhere he goes. He is friendly and full of energy and can't wait to play and go for walks. With the right match, he's sure to become an integral part of the family and bring happiness to all.

Due to his friendly and outgoing nature, if there are children in his forever home, Ireland would do well with kids aged 10 years old and up. His friendly disposition and playful nature make him a wonderful companion for children.
As for canine friends, he likes most dogs but it takes him sometime to warm up. So a slow introduction to ensure that it is a good match would be preferable. With patience and the right match, he's sure to form strong bonds with his furry companions and enjoy their company.

Ready to welcome the boundless energy and infectious joy of Ireland into your life? Call 330-487-0333 ext 226 to schedule an appointment and let the delightful presence of Ireland fill your home with love and laughter. Your forever friend is just a call away!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

All of our adoptable animals are up-to-date on all age appropriate vaccinations, spayed or neutered, de-wormed, de-flea and microchipped before adoptions are finalized. All dogs over six months of age receive a temperament assessment by our Certified Professional Dog Trainer to ensure appropriate placement. Also, many animals in our care receive basic obedience training to improve manners and increase adoptability.

We are currently doing adoptions by appointment only. Please contact us by phone at (234) 212-9843 or email at adoptions@summithumane.org, and an adoption counselor will return your message. They will review our adoption process, answer any questions, and tell you more about the animals currently available for adoption at our shelter and in our foster program. If we have a match for you and your family, an appointment will be scheduled to meet the animal.

Additional questions can be directed to our adoption team at (234) 212-9843.

More about this shelter

Since 1968, the Humane Society of Summit County (HSSC) has been the trusted caretaker and advocate for Summit County’s victims of animal abuse, neglect, and abandonment and stray animals suffering from illness and injury. We employ two full-time Humane Officers who respond to emergency calls, investigate animal cruelty, and, as warranted, prosecute offenders. We protect and care for our community’s abused, discarded, and forgotten animals. We strive every day to rehabilitate our rescued animals, find them great homes, and provide them with bright futures.
