My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi there, potential forever family! My name is Ember, and I'm a spirited one-year-old large dog ready to bring some warmth and excitement into your life! Let me tell you a little about myself. I've got energy for days! My puppy spirit is still alive and well, and I'm always up for a game of fetch or a romp in the great outdoors. Whether it's chasing after a ball or exploring new places, count me in! My enthusiasm knows no bounds, and I'm eager to share my zest for life with someone who appreciates it.

Now, I should mention, I might be a bit much for small children due to my size and boundless energy. But don't let that deter you! I'm a gentle giant at heart and would thrive in a home with older kids who can match my playfulness and give me the attention I crave.

Despite my hyper nature, I've also got a soft side. I adore cuddles and affectionate scratches behind the ears. There's nothing quite like snuggling up with my favorite humans after a long day of play. So, if you're looking for a furry friend who's equal parts playful and affectionate, look no further than Ember! I'm ready to light up your life with love, laughter, and plenty of wagging tails. Are you ready to embark on this adventure with me? Let's make memories together!

*Just a heads up, the way I behave here at the shelter might not be exactly how I'll act in a home environment. Dog behavior can change once they find their forever family. These are just the observations from my time at the SPCA of SWMI.*

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Adopting an animal is a long term commitment and is therefore a serious decision which should be given ample consideration. A furry companion is a delight, but make sure that you understand the obligation of ownership as well.

Do you know how much yearly vet visits cost - and food, and toys? The ASPCA estimates the annual cost of a large dog to be $780, and a cat is $575. Of course the monetary commitment fluctuates somewhat depending on an animal's size and specific medical needs, but we can guarantee that you will be spending a significant amount on him each year. Do you have time to exercise with your pet? Some dogs have more energy than others, but most would benefit from daily walks. Even cats are better off when their owners are able to set aside daily time for play. Make sure you can give a pet the attention he craves and deserves.
