MEET EMMY LOU:

Emmy Lou is a precious 5-month-old, 11-pound short hair Chihuahua who has endured a challenging start to life. Emmy Lou was rescued from a hoarding situation where she lived among over 50 Chihuahuas in the home of an 84-year-old woman. As a result, she is still quite shy and learning to trust.

Emmy Lou is at a crucial age where she can still learn and grow with the right guidance. She has already experienced significant changes, and she now needs a quiet and patient home where she can continue to build her confidence. Due to her timid nature, it is best for Emmy Lou to be in a household without young children. Additionally, she will require a physical fenced yard as she has not yet learned proper leash manners. In her previous environment, Emmy Lou was not given the opportunity to go outside to relieve herself. However, she appears to be potty pad trained and may need further reinforcement. With consistent training and positive reinforcement, she can learn to go outside to do her business.

Emmy Lou has had a positive experience with a cat, showing that she may be able to peacefully coexist with other animals. However, due to her background, she will need a patient family who understands the struggles she has faced. It is important to provide her with a decompression period and allow her to adjust at her own pace. She is looking for a family with another social dog as she relies on the companionship of another canine companion. In all honesty, she is most likely to bond with another dog before she bonds with any new humans - so if your dog is looking for a companion then this is the girl for you!

At her young age, Emmy Lou is still discovering the world around her and may not be familiar with toys. She is not particularly food motivated, but with loving guidance, she may learn to enjoy playtime and develop new interests. When she feels scared or overwhelmed, Emmy Lou may run and hide, but it is crucial to note that she is not aggressive.

Although it may take a little time for Emmy Lou to warm up to new people, she desires love and affection just like any other dog. With patience and understanding, she will become a loyal, devoted companion. Emmy Lou's journey has been challenging, but her resilient spirit shines through, and she is ready to start a new chapter in her life with a family who will support and cherish her.

If you have a quiet and understanding home, and are willing to provide Emmy Lou with the time she needs to trust, she will reward you with unwavering love and devotion.

Emmy Lou is:
Current on Rabies and Distemper
Dewormed
Heartworm Tested: Negative
Receiving Heartworm and Flea Prevention
Microchipped
Scheduled to be spayed at one of our partner Veterinary offices.
