My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet handsome Cal
And not only handsome, but also very well-behaved. He doesn't jump up on people, meets new friends easily and is quite a delight to be around. He was with us before, but recently returned because of his escape artists tendencies. We cannot stress enough that Cal is an ESCAPE ARTIST. He has been returned several times because he cannot be kept in. This boy is going to require someone who can think outside of the box - who will give Cal the training he needs and the attention to keep him from trying to escape.

This boy loves to explore and meet new friends.

Cal is about 3 1/2 years old, and is one of our Pure Mixes. No idea what his breed mix might be, except to note that his tail has the prettiest curl in it, possibly indicating some Husky in his family tree?

Cal loves to play in the water and would make a great go-go dog for any active person or family. He has an athletic build and would love to be a camping, hiking, lake buddy!

Cal is neutered, current on vaccinations, tested negative for heartworms, on preventives for parasites, and is ready for immediate adoption! For more information, please email Stephens County Humane Society at info@stephenscountyshelter.com or call us at 580-252-7387 (PETS). Our animals are spayed/neutered, have age appropriate shots and are treated for fleas/ticks.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We use a simple adoption application/agreement. To complete the application process, we ask for reference letters from the adopting family's veterinarian and two character references. Adoption fees are $100.00 for dogs and $75.00 for cats. Fees include spay/neuter surgery, rabies vaccination and age appropriate vaccinations.

We have 3 main requirements for our dog adoptions.
1- We require a fenced yard
2- If you rent, we require a letter from the landlord stating
pets are permitted in their residence.
3- If you have dogs currently, arrangements must be
made for a meet and greet to ensure all parties are
agreeable.

More about this shelter

We are a Humane Society and Rescue organization serving Stephens County, Oklahoma and it's communities. We work closely with local municipal animal control departments in providing shelter to abandoned, abused, and surrendered animals, and finding homes for as many adoptable pets as we possibly can. We stress spaying and neutering as the one key way to prevent unwanted puppies and kittens.
