My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Jiji is named after the cat in Studio Ghibli’s “Kiki’s delivery service”. It’s a new name for her, and in fact, everything is new for this sweet, sensitive young, 11 lb. mama. She arrived recently via air transport from California. Her background is a mystery, and even her age is unknown (but she seems around 2 years old). When she arrived at FHDR, she was so shut down that she refused to move, but when she got into a loving home, her tail started wagging, and we could finally see the beautiful glimmers of Jiji.

Jiji is just so lovely and so sweet. She’s also gorgeous with her expressive brown eyes, and her coat is shiny ebony except for a little white on her chest & tips of her paws. When she sits outside basking in the sun, you’ll swear she’s the Egyptian God Anubis. Lol

Jiji is kind, vulnerable, dignified, and energetic all at the same time. It’s obvious that she had prior owners because she’s housetrained and knows the sit command. She’s great with everyone she’s met, and effortlessly blends into our home with two other dogs. She is very food motivated, but she doesn’t guard food or resources. She falls into beta position in our family pack, so is very easy going.

As Jiji continues to get settled in, she exhibits puppy-like behavior and can be energetic. When she’s excited, she will playfully nip/bite/scratch - so we are recommending no small children in the home because of this. She would not be a good candidate to be left at home for several hours at a time; she gets bored and will chew on things. Jiji would love to have a similar-aged dog to play with. She is very smart and highly trainable. On walks, she notices everything and may try to take off after something she sees. She can be skittish of busy streets and traffic and would do best in a quiet suburban neighborhood.

Jiji is up to date on vaccinations and flea/tick treatment, microchipped and spayed. Her adoption fee is $500.

More about this rescue

Forever Home Dog Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. We receive dogs from owner surrenders and overcrowded shelters. All of the dogs are housed in private, loving foster homes or a kennel in the greater Seattle area. We assess their behaviors and health and help them relax during their transition to a forever home. The dogs remain in foster care or in our kenneling facility until they are adopted. All of the dogs are/or will be spayed or neutered, microchipped and are current on routine vaccinations.

Forever home dog rescue is not a shelter and thus you cannot see the dogs without an appointment.

We need foster homes! Thinking about adopting a dog, but not sure yet about which breed or if you're ready for the long-term commitment? Consider becoming a foster parent. A foster dog placement can be anywhere from two weeks to several months. We provide any dog supplies you may need and cover all necessary medical costs for your foster dog. You provide the love and attention and bring the dogs to adoption events at least twice per month.

Interested? Send us an email at fhdrwa@gmail.com and we'll send you a foster application. It's lots of fun and you will meet lots of dogs and other people who love dogs.
