Looking for a cuddle companion to laze around with on Sundays? Meet Dory, a 1.5-year-old sweetheart who arrived from Lee's Summit Animal Shelter. In her foster home, she's been picking up all the necessary skills with guidance from the resident dogs, whom she adores. She's friendly with ducks, chickens, cats, and people of all sizes. Her foster parent describes her as one of the kindest dogs they've ever encountered. While she's up for car rides, she much prefers lounging at home with her foster family members. Dory is now on the lookout for a permanent home and a family to call her own. Is anyone in need of a love bug to complete their life?

Dory is current on vaccinations and preventatives, spayed, and microchipped.

Adopt-A-Pet Events in the Kansas City Area

Cat adoptions are held at the PetSmart at 115th and Metcalf in Overland Park KS every Saturday from 12:00 to 3:00. Cats available for adoption every day at PetSmart in-store cage area.

Dog adoptions are held at the PetSmart in Olathe KS at 119th and Strang Line, every Saturday from 12:00 to 3:00.

Dog adoptions are held at the PetSmart in Lee's Summit MO at 920 NE Sam Walton Lane, also every Saturday from 12:00 and 3:00.

The Heart of America Humane Society is an all-volunteer, 501(c)3 non-profit organization helping to place shelter and foster animals into permanent homes in and around the greater Kansas City metro area.

Our goal is to save and improve the lives of Kansas City's homeless companion animals by promoting responsible pet ownership. The Heart of America Humane Society (HAHS) partners with the Lee's Summit Animal Shelter (Lee's Summit MO) and KCK Animal Services (Kansas City KS) to increase pet adoptions into responsible, permanent homes.

Background
Our organization does not have a permanent facility or paid staff, so many of our adoptions take place at PetSmart stores and occasionally through other event venues. Some events raise awareness and bring in donations for our animal support efforts, while others help acknowledge and show appreciation for our own volunteers (who perform all duties outside of their regular jobs).
