Meet Kumpel, the enthusiastic pup born in June 2023, whose name translates to "Buddy" in German. With his handsome red and black coat and soulful eyes, this Shepherd mix weighs approximately 50 pounds. Transferred from animal control, Kumpel found his way to New Leash on Life, where he stole the hearts of staff and volunteers alike.
As a big, beautiful, and sometimes playful puppy, Kumpel exudes energy but also enjoys moments of relaxation with his human companion. He demonstrates excellent leash manners and is poised to be an ideal hiking partner for any outdoor enthusiast. However, his keen interest in feline friends suggests that a cat-free home would probably suit him best.
Neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccinations, Kumpel also receives regular protection against fleas, ticks, and heartworms. Ready to embark on a new adventure, Kumpel eagerly awaits a loving forever home. With a reasonable adoption fee of $150 Kumpel offers unlimited potential for love, loyalty, and lifelong companionship to the lucky person who welcomes him into their heart. Ready to embark on a new adventure, Kumpel is eagerly awaiting a loving forever home.
**All New Leash on Life dogs must be adopted to families willing to have their pets be allowed inside - especially at night. No dog is allowed to be put on a "tie out" or chain outside and should be walked on a leash when not in a fenced in yard. ** (Pet ID D24-030)

More about this rescue
New Leash on Life is dedicated to improving the welfare of companion animals in our community through shelter, placement, spay/neuter, education and awareness.
Our goals include the following:
To educate the public about the importance of having their pets spayed or neutered, and to provide low or no cost surgeries for those in need.
To shelter and provide care for stray, abused, or relinquished animals.
To educate the general population about the seriousness of pet overpopulation.
To end euthanasia as a means of controlling pet overpopulation.
To find good homes for the animals in our care.
Our hope for the future is that there will be no unwanted, unloved or abandoned companion animal. We will continue with our aggressive spay/neuter campaign and our owner education programs in the hopes that any pet ever adopted will find a permanent, loving home. We believe that with the involvement of our community we will make a significant impact on the welfare of companion animals, but we need your help and understanding. Together, will make the difference.
