Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Intake Date: 26 February 2024 -------- Age at Intake: 1.5 yrs ----- Breed: Cocker Spaniel mix ----- Size: 35 lbs ----- Status: Hoarding situation ----- Compatible with: Dogs, cats, respectful children ----- Suitable for: home with a fenced yard. No exceptions ----- Medical/Behavioral Needs: Shy, requires grooming. ----- Additional Notes: Welcome Anastasia! A stunning little beauty that was part of the 26 dog hoarding and neglect case. What we have learned so far is that she loves loves loves a soft bed. I am not sure she has gotten off of it since coming to rescue. She is quite shy but not aggressive or snappy. If anything, her preferred response is to retreat (hence the need for a fenced yard). She doesn't respond well to loud noises and won't even eat in public. She takes her food by mouthfulls to a quiet corner to eat which is adorable but also so sad. She will require regular brushing and coat maintenance. She will likely thrive in a calm home. An adopter will have to be very willing to understand and accept that she is not a "typical" dog but that that is not an excuse not to challenge her and expose to her to new things so that she can learn to navigate her emotions and responses. The only way for a dog to blossom is to not put them in a box and prevent them from encountering anything uncomfortable or that makes them uneasy. She deserves a family that will help her GROW and develop and get more and more confident, not shelter her. Knowing that is going to take time and a lot of consistent work. And she deserves to feel safe and confident in the world. The work is worth it! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If interested in meeting and potentially adopting please read the adoption requirements and complete the adoption application located at forbellessake.org. Once processed and approved a meet and greet can be scheduled and if a match an adoption is finalized at that time. Adoption fee is $175 and all dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and treated for any known medical needs. Breeds are not guaranteed but often a best guess. Housetraining is not guaranteed but crate training is worked on with all residents. If a yard is present, a secure fence is prioritized.
