My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Oscar, a charming 6-year-old Miniature Schnauzer with a heart full of love. Oscar was surrendered to the shelter due to his barking when he was left crated all day, during his owner's absence. Oscar embodies the true Schnauzer spirit—intelligent, deeply attached to his humans, with a touch of anxiety and a robust vocal range that he doesn't hesitate to use. Oscar's is the ultimate "Velcro" dog who thrives on being close to his people. His ideal forever home is one where he will not be left alone for extended periods often. Cuddles and gentle pets are among Oscar's favorite delights, and he even knows a few tricks. He has done well in his foster home and finds confidence among his foster siblings, who've shown him the calmness of a supportive pack. A home with another gentle dog or two could be the perfect setting for Oscar, offering him companionship and easing his anxiety. Cats and Oscar share a peaceful coexistence; he shows no interest in them. However, warming up to new humans takes a moment—patience, gentle speech, and slow movements are the keys to winning his trust. Given his reactive nature when frightened, a home without small children or frequent visits by little ones would be best for Oscar. HIs new family must be committed to his adjustment period. Additionally, his history of door-dashing requires a securely fenced yard to keep him safe. While Oscar walks with a bit of enthusiasm that can sometimes translate into pulling, especially when other dogs or people are around, it's an area where ongoing patience and training are needed. He's a pro at crate and house training, though the transition to a new home might bring about a few accidents as he adjusts. We are not able to accept applications from apartments, condos, or any attached living situations due to history of barking and shelter surrender. We appreciate your understanding. Oscar is ready to fill his new home with love, loyalty, and a few well-timed barks. If you're looking for a smart, affectionate companion who sticks by your side, Oscar might just be the perfect match for your family. Oscar is neutered, up to date on all vaccines, on heartworm preventative, de-wormed, and microchipped. Oscar’s adoption fee is $350.00.
