My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hiya, I'm Dusty and Let me tell you a few things about myself! I am a 1-year-old Plott Hound mix (best guess) with a playful and active personality. My adoption fee is lower because someone sponsored me in honor of the dog-loving Libby for her birthday. So, you can have me as you new BFF for only $85.00.

I tend to be a little bit unsure of new people, but once we spend some time together I'm fine. I love the outdoors and would make a great camping or fishing buddy. I LOVE food and would do anything for a treat (so I'm a great candidate for training). I am good on a leash and don't pull too much, I like to look back if the leash gets tight to let you catch up. I'm quite the goofy guy too and enjoy playing and being near my people. I'm a little picky about other dogs so a meet and greet with another dog is a must.

If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to request an appointment to meet me. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come.

Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and Minneapolis, MN areas twice a month. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual and we will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veteinarian ($35). Going that last mile home for our sweet pets!
