If you see pets listed by a private owner, it means that they’re adoptable through Adopt a Pet’s Rehome program – the safe and reliable way to find a loving new home for your pet.
Adopted in Flagstaff, AZ, she was a feral dog originally, adopted into a situation with many dogs. She must have been surrendered because she was adopted a 2nd time into a home with 30 cats. Her owner passed away in the home. She once again found herself in a shelter. She is an incredibly sweet yet highly anxious girl. Her feral background, abandonment and what appears to have been abuse at some point, have left her with special needs. She needs a quiet, small kid-free home with an owner who's had experience caring for a special needs dog. She enjoys being petted but still appears to be somewhat wary about it. She will sometimes jump if she is not expecting your touch. I don't think she knew how to accept love and affection for most of her life. She lives well with other dogs and may need another dog in the home for emotional support. She gets visibly excited when she sees other dogs. She walks well on a leash but startles easily. She doesn't travel well and needs to be kenneled.
