My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Winnie is a 5 year old lab/ Shep mix. She enjoys chasing tennis balls, swimming, running, and going for walks. She is great with children and is also a very protective dog. She has a lot of patience with children and is not food aggressive. We can not care for her with 2 little children and having to fulfill military obligations and just want her to find a great home. Additional adoption info

If we are adopting out a dog who has been trained the adopter must agree to one training session the day they adopt the dog (coming home). If we decide additional training sessions will be needed we will advise the adopter prior to adoption.

More about this rescue

We are a veteran-run dog rescue based in San Diego, California. Our goal is to change the rescue world. We adopt our dogs to any loving and qualified homes, but we also provide ESAs for military veterans. With The Heroic Tail’s model, we are not only able to rescue dogs from high-kill shelters who happen to be at the wrong place at the wrong time, but we are also able to help the dogs deemed “unadoptable” and give them a better chance at a happy and healthy life!
