My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Xenophone was brought in by a community member on January 20, 2024.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Looking for a new best friend to conquer the great outdoors? Look no further than Xenophone, the adventurous hiker extraordinaire! This charming pup may start off a bit shy, but once you break out the tennis balls, he transforms into a fetching fanatic. Just be warned: he might keep the ball for himself! Xenophone would be happiest in his new home as the solo canine companion, as he's shown some reactivity to other dogs. If you do have another dog in the home, make sure to bring them along so we can ensure it is a good fit! Ready to embark on your next epic journey with Xeno? Pack your leash and collar and get ready for some tail-wagging fun!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
