My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

THIS IS A COURTESY LISTING...THIS IS NOT A BLEU'S K9 RESCUE DOG...

My name is Blue. I got my name because of my unique eyes. One eye is brown and you guessed it the other is blue. I’m often called very handsome and I am a mix breed Lab and Blue heeler. I’m a strong guy and weigh about 65 pounds. I am a big guy with a heart just as big and strong. I love my people.
Wherever you go I am right behind. I am a Velcro dog. Want to go for a ride in the car? Just open the door and I’ll hop in. I am very gentle with people. I love having my teeth brushed, nails trimmed and even my fur brushed. However, though I love people I am not fond of other animals or most dogs.
Because of my breed, I have a high prey drive and want to give chase to just about anything moving. Also because of my background I exhibit aggression towards some dogs. You see I was adopted out of a shelter when I was about 1-2 years old. I have been in a loving home for the past four years but my humans are getting old and having health issues. So I am looking for a new family to love me. I know I have my short comings but I more than make up for it with my loyalty and devotion to my humans. I know my basic commands, and understand the importance of sit, stay, “come “and leave it. I am energetic and enjoy going on walks and playing fetch. I also like to play with squeak toys and chew sticks
to keep myself occupied. By the way I am healthy, neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on all my vaccines. My ideal home would include a large fenced backyard, with ample space to run and play. So if you would be willing to share your home and heart with me as your sole pet in the household, I am ready for a new adventure with you.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We spay/neuter and vet all of our dogs before adopting them out. We require that all of our potential adopters fill out our adoption application. We then process the apps (call 3 personal references and a vet reference). We require a home visit. Then a meet n greet with the whole family especially any other animals living in the home. Once we feel the dog is right for the family, we have them sign an adoption agreement which states that they will take the dog for future vaccines. Also states that they will not allow their dog to run at large. Once agreement is signed we require an adoption donation to be paid.

We have monthly fundraising events where we sell our rescue merchandise and offer free education literature on responsible pet ownership and low cost clinics. We try to have our adoptable dogs at the events that allow dogs. we are very hands on with the community.

More about this rescue

Bleu's K9 Rescue Inc is Non profit Animal Rescue Organization. We are 100% foster and volunteer based throughout the Hudson Valley. We are dedicated in saving dogs of all sizes and all breeds by placing them into loving, forever homes. We do not have a physical shelter. Instead, we operate primarily through our foster homes, online databases and at adoption events/fundraisers.
We are committed to providing the dogs that come into Bleu's K9 Rescue with the best possible care in foster homes as they wait for their forever homes while providing the appropriate veterinary care needed.
We also serve our community and adopters by educating and encouraging responsible pet ownership with an emphasis on the need for spaying and neutering. We also do our best to break down the stereotypes of many “bully” breeds.
Because our foster homes are the backbone of the rescue and to help our organization run smoothly, it is our goal to provide the best experience possible. We encourage each foster home to be as involved as they can be.
Our passion for animals goes beyond regular rescue. Our organization puts together monthly fundraisers to afford to foster and provide vet care. It also allows us to connect to the local communities on a face to face basis which we feel is very important. Our bottom line is that if an animal is in need, we will do our very best to help!
