My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Can you be the hero Penni needs?

Meet Penni, the gentle soul who's ready to fill your home with love and loyalty! Penni might be 8 years young, but don't let her age fool you - she's still got plenty of pep in her step and enough love to last a lifetime! This delightful Mastiff/Shepherd(?) mix, weighing in at a perfect 58 pounds, was once on death row, scheduled to be euthanized.  But, thanks to a foster hero, she's now living her best life in a loving foster home. Penni now has a second chance at life and is thriving in a loving foster home. Penni is described as "very sweet" and gets along well with other dogs. Her foster mom raves about her, "right away she was very sweet and loving, gentle yet playful, good with our other dog, and very good with our 1.5 year old daughter. She is house broken, knows some basic commands, sits without being asked at appropriate times, greats us very warmly and happily, and takes treats very gently! She is calm when you want her to be and playful when you play. She’s flipping her toy around delightfully. She’s sturdy but seems to be aware of that or just knows how to be gentle with kids." She has a heart of gold and is eager to shower her forever family with unconditional love and affection. Despite the hardships she's faced, Penni's spirit remains unbroken, and she's ready to embrace a bright future with a family who will cherish her. This gal is ready to turn every day into an adventure with her forever family! If you're looking for a loyal companion who's guaranteed to bring endless joy and laughter into your life, look no further than Penni! If you're ready to open your heart and your home to this precious pup, please complete an application at ITVrescue.org. Let's make Penni's dreams of a forever family come true!

All of our dogs are examined by a veterinarian, given age-appropriate vaccinations, dewormed, microchipped, spayed or neutered, heartworm tested and treated if necessary.

More about this shelter

It Takes A Village Rescue, Inc. is a non-kill 501(c)(3) rescue dedicated to doing what it takes to find loving homes for stray, abandoned, and surrendered animals, and to keep these animals safe and free from further suffering. Our mission is "To work as one in helping homeless animals irrespective of breed, location or circumstance." By working with committed volunteers, foster homes, veterinarians and partner rescues or shelters, we are able to rescue countless animals every year and provide them with loving temporary care as we work to find them well-matched forever homes. Although we do not discriminate based on breed, size or color, we have a particular interest in bully breeds, special medical needs, senior dogs, black dogs and other hard-to-place animals.
