My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Vega is a remarkably sweet girl, distinguished by her unique coloring that sets her apart. Throughout her life, she has embraced the great outdoors, yet she harbors a desire to become more acquainted with indoor living-a transition she appears ready for, given her house-broken nature. Although Vega has shared her space with other dogs in the past, it seems those encounters were less than ideal, leaving her somewhat anxious in the company of her canine peers. To ensure a harmonious introduction, we highly recommend arranging a meet and greet with your dog if Vega has captured your interest. This thoughtful step will help ensure that Vega finds a loving home where she can thrive, both as a cherished member of the family and as a companion to other pets.

Vega's adoption fee is $ 50 and includes her spay, microchip, vaccines, deworming, and heartworm testing (Negative Results). We have also started her on heartworm prevention and flea/tick medication.

More about this shelter

Concern over a large, and ever increasing, population of homeless dogs and cats, instigated the opening of the Monroe County Animal Shelter.
A not-for-profit organization, Monroe County Friends of Animals help the shelter by providing volunteers, fundraising events, grant writing and more. There is always a need for more volunteers. With a small budget, donations are a welcome necessity. We have developed educational programs to promote spay/neuter and humane care of all animals.
