My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello! My name is Ada, I am a 7 month old red coonhound. I currently weigh about 45 lbs, so I will likely be a pretty big girl when I'm all grown up. I love people and other dogs although my foster mom keeps telling me ‘I’m a bit much’ for some friends, apparently not everyone enjoys my playful energy. My favorite activities are bird watching, trail walks, zoomies with my puppy friends and playing ball. I am very food motivated and still don't quite understand why I can’t just help myself to food on the counter or the kitchen trash can. True to my hound breed I have endless energy and like to make my strong opinions known by howling on occasion. I am very smart, I already know my name, how to come when i'm called, sit, kennel trained and I am fully potty trained. As I am still a baby I do need frequent guidance and reminders for my training. Right now I am using an e collar to remind me to not jump up, to stay quiet and come everytime I am called, not just when I feel like it. I am looking for a human who will be able to keep up with my energy by hiking, biking, playing fetch, etc. to keep me from finding trouble. I will also need ongoing training and socialization to help me grow up to be a wonderful companion. I can get overwhelmed in new busy areas of town since I didn't get out much in my old home. My ideal home will have no kids under 10 years old, no small animals (cats, etc.) and a fenced yard.
