My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

UPDATE!!✨

This little cutie is Champ. He’s was pulled from a local overcrowded shelter. Champ is a sweet but timid boy. He will need patience while he settles in. Champ adores women and settles in with them quickly. He is extremely weary of men and would do best in a woman only household or with a very understanding male that will give this guy the time he needs to overcome his past and trust men.m. He is a terrier mix that’s 1-2 years old and 10-15 lbs. He has done great with the female dogs in his foster home but is an alpha to males. He does well in the house and wants nothing more than a lap to call his own. He would do better in an older calmer household with a lady that has a lap to call his own. He is the best little guy to his foster mom and would make a wonderful companion to a woman out there. He is utd, hw neg (tested below detectable levels and neutered.

FOSTER NEEDED ASAP- Chance is in a home with men and other male dogs and it’s a very busy environment. He adores his foster mom but she feels he would do much better in a less chaotic foster home. If you feel you can give him a foster home that could help this boy overcome his past that is better suited for his needs please fill out the app below!

Our adoptions are NOT on a first come first serve basis and there is no fee to apply! We never state any animal is fully House-trained. New environments, situations, families, routines, ect. can lead to accidents even with the most well trained animals.

All dogs have a $175 adoption fee which includes vet check, age appropriate shots (atleast 2 sets for puppies), dewormer, heartworm test (if over 6 months), rabies (if atleast 16 weeks) and spay/neuter! Puppies will be altered before adoption.

Wags and Whiskers is an all-volunteer rescue. Please allow us time to respond to all inquires and applications! Thank you!

All of our dogs are in foster homes, but we are very easy and flexible to set an appointment up with to meet one of our animals once the adoption application is approved. We also participate regularly at adoption events with other local rescues.

More about this rescue

Wags and Whiskers is a FOSTER based small rescue along the Gulf Coast. We take in dogs from local shelters, strays and from individuals who are in need of help. We can only take in dogs that we have a foster space available for and that space is limited due to the shear number of unwanted dogs in our area. Our primary veterinarian is Dr. David Martin at Parkway Animal Hospital. He oversees all medical treatment. All dogs are current on vaccinations, dewormed, heartworm tested if they are over 6 months of age and are altered before adoption. PARKWAY ANIMAL HOSPITAL DOES NOT HOUSE OUR DOGS ONLY PROVIDE MEDICAL TREATMENT! We have an adoption process that consist of an online application that can be emailed to you, reference check, meet and greet and home visit. Adoptions will not be finalized until all procedures listed have been completed. We do not adopt on a first come first serve basis but to the best home for that particular animal when there are multiple applicants.
