My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Description
Ryder is a young male Doberman with a curious, gentle and loving temperament.

Personality
Ryder is a very submissive, and clever 1 year old boy. He is goofy and learning fast to adapt to life with loving humans and his foster dog siblings. When he sees his foster dog siblings do something, he follows their lead and does it too. He seems to be a quick study, as he has already learned to sit to have his harness and leash put on, as well as willingly go into his crate. He is very food motivated! Ryder is playful with his foster dog siblings Lena, a 75-pound pittie mix, and Ari, a 10-pound male yorkie. He is non- reactive to other dogs, even when they show their teeth or give him a warning growl (he’s still an overgrown puppy learning about personal space). He is sometimes weary of gates, steps, and loud sounds, but has NO problem going through the gate and down the stairs into the dog park! At the vet, he was well mannered and responsive to redirection. He didn’t become overstimulated even when other dogs were barking nearby. Ryder was relaxed as long as he was experiencing human touch. Overall, he is a loving boy that would benefit from a family that is willing to give him all of the cuddles and kisses he wants (he loves it! ).

Background
Ryder was found running along the Yale/Main St. exit on 610 north in late February, 2024. He was with a young male boxer of about the same age (now named Drew). He was a bit skittish, however once he saw his boxer friend approach the rescuer he followed. It is believed that they were dumped by their previous owners who could no longer take care of them. They were both on the thin side and hungry, but otherwise in pretty good condition.

Compatibility
Dogs - Yes
Cats - Probably (has not been exposed)
