My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Have you ever wanted a big dog but you didn’t have enough room in your home or apartment? Love a small dog with a great story? Wins all around!

Meet Wednesday - an 8-year-old, 25 lb. scruffy terrier mix who is actually 35% Great Pyrenees and 36% other big dog breeds! This might explain her goofy playfulness (even if she does a good serious face). But rest assured, Wednesday’s favorite activities are chilling and cuddles, politely greeting new people and dogs (sometimes with hugs), and finding any morsel of food hidden behind your couch or on the street. In fact, Wednesday will be only too happy to be your cooking partner in the kitchen (although she might ask for first tastes).

Wednesday is house-trained, an easy leash walker, and sleeps through the night (so long as she can sleep at the foot of your bed). She is good with other dogs, largely ignores cats, and prefers the company of humans to basically anything else in the world (except treats). She’s friendly with children but will find herself a quiet spot if there’s too much energy and activity (won’t we all?).

Wednesday has had a congenital heart condition since she was a puppy, and this is well managed by daily medications. Sometimes, if her heart rate gets too high, Wednesday may have a syncopal episode and faint for about 10-30 seconds, but she doesn’t notice it and couldn’t care less. It doesn’t compromise her quality of life and she’s immediately energetic and happy when she wakes up (it’s a little bit like watching a fainting goat).

Wednesday was recently surrendered through no fault of her own (financial and life circumstances), but she has lived in a home all her life, and is desperate to find a new family of her own. Wednesday would do best in a home where there’s a human around to pet her and tell her she’s a good girl, as she has some separation anxiety when left alone (though isn’t destructive).

Interested in welcoming Wednesday to your family? Fill out our online adoption application: http://www.friendswithfourpaws.org/adoption-form.html This is the first step in our process, and we don't go any further without an application.
Find more adoptable pets, news and information on Instagram @friendswithfourpaws or our Facebook page Friends with Four Paws.

We put a lot of time and energy into processing our adoptions to find our babies the best fit home for them and you. Please do not submit an application if you are not serious about adopting Wednesday.
We are so excited to work with you to find you a new forever friend, and Wednesday the perfect forever home, and appreciate you working with us.
For immediate consideration, please attach your application to the initial inquiry to help us expedite the process.

Our adoption fee is $150. This includes their spay/neuter surgery, full (age appropriate) vaccinations, microchip insertion and registration, deworming, heartworm testing and prevention, flea and tick prevention and travel expenses.

All of our dogs are rescued from local shelters and the general public. Each dog is then placed in a foster home where he/she is kept for quarantine, to ensure if the dog gets sick it can receive proper treatment. We have foster homes in the NJ/NY area waiting to receive their fosters. Once an animal has received an application or there's an adopter interested, we make arrangements for transport. If a dog is already in foster care in NYC/NJ, an adopter will be put in touch with the foster home AFTER an application is being processed.

Thank you in advance for your patience with our process and for making adoption YOUR option!
