Since we are 100% foster-based rescue, only approved applications will be reviewed and/or contacted. We do not allow shipping & do not transport. You must live within 350 miles from Maryville, IL & be available to travel to the area for adoption.
Missy was shaved, to the skin, before coming to rescue. The coat is not such a big deal, and we hope that everyone is able to see past that. In time, she will grow a gorgeous Cavalier coat. More importantly, Missy must reduce her weight just a little bit & maintain a healthy body composition. When dogs carry extra weight, it is dangerous to their hearts & body structure.
So, with that said, let’s talk about Missy! She is super-duper friendly. The friendliest. She will make & hold eye contact, 3 inches from your face, to reinforce her deep love & desire to be the very best friend you have ever had, lol. She will help you with every single chore, all your work, and any other activity you are engaged in by laying into you with her entire body. She looooooooves to love you! Missy is extremely friendly to kids, strangers, & anyone who will love her.
Missy has learned to walk on a leash pretty proficiently. She isn't formally leash trained, and she isn't interested in taking long walks. She is even better at walking on a leash when you have treats for her, lol. We won't require a fence, but it is preferred to let her continue getting outdoor exercise.
Missy has proven that she is reliably potty trained. She hasn't had any accidents in her current home. Please be mindful that when an environment changes, new routines must be established. Schedules must be set & maintained. Please have a plan to set Missy up for success in her new home!
Missy is rather quiet. She doesn't appreciate being locked up or kenneled. She does better in a dog proofed area when her humans aren't around. Cavaliers typically do better with a friend, and Missy has always had other dogs with her. She gets along with them all, she has a submissive personality. But she might do okay as an only dog, too. As long as her human is with her the majority of the time.
