My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi there, I'm Pancake! I'm a ball of energy who loves to explore every nook and cranny. I also have the most beautiful multicolored eyes! My curiosity knows no bounds, and I'll happily play with anything that moves. I've got a friendly disposition once I get to know you and enjoy the company of my canine pals too. After a day of play, there's nothing I love more than a good cuddle. I can be a bit iffy on pets, especially if you are a stranger, but I do enjoy cuddling up to my favorite humans. I hope to find a family that is patient with me while I come out of my shell! I'm not just a cat; I'm a companion, a friend, a playmate, and a source of joy. I'm eager to share my love and energy with a forever family. Adopting me will bring an endless supply of cuddles, fun, and love into your life. I promise to make every day brighter with my playful antics and affectionate nature. So, how about it? Are you ready to add a dash of Pancake to your life?

More about this shelter

The South Suburban Humane Society is a 501(c )(3) organization that was started in 1970, serving the animal welfare needs of the entire south suburbs of Chicago. In the beginning, we handled all rescues, adoptions and provided foster care out of private homes. Since November 1973, our organization has been operating a 10,000 square foot open-door animal shelter in Chicago Heights, Illinois.

For over fifty years, our organization has helped tens of thousands of animals. We offer extensive outreach programs including humane education, and community outreach events. We also operate a resale shop located in Steger, Illinois that promotes our organization, our animals and provide much needed income to support our humane work.

The Mission of the South Suburban Humane Society is to protect and promote the well being of pets and their people in our community and beyond.
