Hi! My name is Avalon, and I am IN SOUTH KOREA waiting to be matched to a home in Los Angeles! I was rescued from the dog meat trade in South Korea by the DoVE Project. BEHAVIOR: Cheerful and playful Avalon will surely put a smile on your face when you meet her! Despite her difficult past, she quickly learned the kindness of people and has adapted well to her life in our rescue partner's shelter. She may be timid at first, but has come a long way in trusting new people. Avalon loves playing with other dogs. She prefers space away from other dogs while eating, likely due to prior food insecurity. This pup has overcome so much and is ready for her forever home!

BACKGROUND: In November 2022, the rescue organization C'DT discovered Avalon surviving in horrid conditions at a former dog farm location. She was alone, chained in a fenced area, subsisting on only water and ramen crumbs. Clever Avalon survived by puting the ramen crumbs in her water bowl, but her condition was dire. She was severely malnourshed and suffered from various conditions, including weak hind legs, which have been successfully treated.
ABOUT JINDOS
Jindos are known for their fierce loyalty, high intelligence, rarely barking, and playful nature. They make great indoor family dogs, as Jindos are clean and easily housetrained, and are faithful to family members. They are also mid-level active and love being socialized at dog parks, going on hikes, and joining the family on trips.
ABOUT OUR DOGS
DoVE dogs come from a traumatic background such as dog meat farms and slaughterhouses. While many of our dogs acclimate within a few months with consistency, structure, and patience, some of our more sensitive dogs can take longer to rehabilitate. It's important to note that these sensitive dogs are even more attuned to human emotions and behavior, making for a deeper connection human-dog connection. DoVE Project is committed to helping our adopters desensitize and socialize our dog meat trade survivors.

Home Check
Please send us a video or multiple photos of your home, interior and exterior.

Approve Application
A group decision will be made based on what we believe is the best fit for both the pet and for your family.

Pay Fee
The full adoption fee is paid prior to bringing the pet home.
6.
Take the Pet Home
The pet will come home with you for a 2-week trial.
7.
Sign Adoption Contract
After a successful 2-week trial, the adoption contract is signed.

More about this rescue
DoVE Project (Dogs of Violence Exposed) is a 501(c)3 animal welfare, rights and protection organization. As our name is clearly stated, our aim is to end the Dog Meat Trade in S. Korea and other parts of the world where the dogs are slaughtered for human consumption. The condition in which these dogs are raised, bred and slaughtered is extremely brutal and inhumane. We rescue these dogs from dog farms, slaughterhouses, or dogs destined to enter into dog meat trade or be slaughtered to be eaten. Many female dogs that are rescued from the farms/slaughter houses are pregnant and oftentimes their puppies are brought to USA for adoption. Part of our campaign to end the DMT in Korea is rescue work in parallel in conjunction with our campaign to raise awareness and education within Korea.
