My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Josh! This 8 month old Retriever/Labrador mix is a very shy and quiet boy. A gentle soul who loves cuddles and treats. He is looking for his forever home who can offer him the time to adjust to household life, and the opportunity to flourish and grow. He would prefer a home with another dog, as it brings out his confidence and playfulness. If you have another furry friend at home, we do offer meet and greets. That allows you to bring your other dog to meet him, to see how they will do together before adoption. Josh is up to date on all vaccinations, microchipped, and will be neutered upon adoption. Do you think you could be Josh's new forever home? Come on down and meet him today!

Additional adoption info

HSSM is home to over 300 pets on any given day, most of which are looking for new forever homes! Your new best friend could be waiting at HSSM right now. Our beautiful, 41,000 square foot facility is currently open to the public. HSSM is open for adoptions Tuesday – Friday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. No appointment is necessary to adopt, however, adoptions are first-come, first served. You must come to HSSM to complete your adoption and make sure you bring a photo ID, as it is required to complete adoption paperwork.
Our adoptable animals page is self-updating and displays ALL of HSSM’s adorable adoptable pets from “pocket pets” to birds and of course the hundreds of dogs and cats currently calling HSSM home! See one you like? Make sure you note your favorite’s name and animal ID number so that HSSM staff and volunteers can easily find him/her when you come in!
Adoptions are cut off every day about 30 minutes prior to closing and possibly earlier if volume is high. Weekends are busy and you may have to wait more than an hour (especially in the afternoons) so please be prepared.
