Meet a true New Yorker: cool, smart, sweet with who he trusts, but wary of strangers, loud noises and objects in human hands.
Raul was rescued during a TNR project. He turned out to be too sweet and friendly to be returned back to street life. Raul was placed in a loving foster home where he built a special bond with his foster mom. Foster mom learned his body language pretty quickly which made them communicate easier, and she will tell you all about it during meet and greet!
Raul is a night owl: he likes to nap under a couch or dresser so that his beauty sleep doesn't get interrupted, and once the foster mom is back from work and starts preparing dinner, Raul turns into the best companion in the kitchen.
Raul comes when he's called and puts his head in your hands and allows you to pet him on the chin, backside, and around his face. He demands to be pet with both hands, and gently nips the hand which is being "lazy".
When he belly flops, it doesn't always mean that he's inviting you to rub his belly. It's a sign of trust and that he wants to be cute for you and be near you. If you are trustworthy, Raul allows you to rub his belly along with head scratches. Raul likes to play with different toys, also keeps trying to hunt his tail. His kitten energy returns when it;s time for zoomies!. Raul finds it more entertaining to play alone, but can't resist when foster Mom starts playing with a red laser dot or a string toy.
Raul is about 5 years old, neutered, microchipped, and up to date with vaccines. He tested negative for Felv, but positive for FIV. But don't let this deter you as most cats with FIV live long healthy lives just like negative cats and studies have shown that most often the virus is slow acting and can take years to have a noticeable effect on health, if it even does. In fact, many FIV+ cats never progress to the point of immune deficiency.
All of AdvoCat Rescue's cats and kittens are fostered in private homes. We require a completed pre-application to be submitted prior to scheduling potential adopters to meet them. Once an application is approved, we then schedule a virtual meet & greet. Applications can be accessed on this link: www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/ADVR/Cat
Adoption fee is $150
