Meet the Pet
This helps New Leash on Life Dog Rescue with pet care costs.
Jack has watched all four of his siblings head off to forever homes of their very own…and he is crossing his paws that he gets to be next! Jack (male) came to us [with his sister + 3 brothers] from an Amish breeder when we were told their “time was up.” So to put it plainly…Jack’s life was spared by a matter of hours! Upon arrival, all of the pups were – understandably – quite scared, but have adjusted, settled in, and started to embrace the wonderful life they were always meant to live! Jack weighs right around 40lbs, and since we don’t know the exact details about his date of birth…is approximately 7-8 months old. The best way to describe Jack: SMART!!! He is thought to be a blue heeler mix, and…in true heeler fashion…is incredibly intelligent! He catches onto things very quickly. He knows how to “sit” & “shake,” and was accustomed to leash walking with just a short amount of practice. He loves going on walks! Jack has been a champ with his housebreaking, and we’d venture to say he’s pretty much 100% potty-trained (with a little transition time to be expected when moving to a new home, of course)! Chew toys are included in the list of Jack’s favorite things, however he doesn’t chew on anything in the home he isn’t supposed to. He comes when he’s called, responds extremely well to correction, and sleeps in his kennel throughout the night. Sometimes he needs just a little reminder to lay down/be quiet, but once reminded…he listens well and complies without any reluctance. Jack LOVES to be cuddled!! As you can see in some of his photos, he soaks up any + all affection from his humans. He also loves being held like a baby. He’s a huge cuddle-bug!
OF NOTE: Jack is a heeler breed – and DOES have several of their tendencies! He is currently living with another (very submissive) dog, and Jack has a habit of nipping toward/herding the other dog. He loves other dogs and really enjoys playing with them outside (he would play & play forever!)…but when indoors, what Jack perceives as “doing his job” can take over at times. Therefore any pup-friends in the home will need to be tolerant of this behavior, OR he would also thrive as your one & only! And although he has met young children and loved them, it’s very possible he would also attempt to herd them. So we are highly recommending that Jack’s forever home be versed in the heeler breed and their traits…as this will only ensure Jack is setup for success!
He’s truly a sweet, snuggly boy who deserves the world! He would flourish in an active home who supplies him with the appropriate exercise + mental stimulation…and then [of course] cuddle up for love and spoils at the end of the day. If he sounds like the one for you, please apply + reach out via private message. Just ask for Jack!
