Meet Scarlett! She is about 2-3 years old, medium sized and drop dead gorgeous!
Scarlett is a very independent girl. She is highly dog social but doesn't get excited about two legged friends. She's incredibly shy....after months in a foster home she will still only allow the occasional chin scratch. On her terms, of course. She might have been a cat in a past life!
Young Scarlett was rescued from a long term hoarding situation and never really got to be safe, be comfortable, be a pet. Now that she can enjoy the good life, she's not quite sure how!
She is smart and incredibly athletic (6 foot fence MINIMUM). She can be quite brave and curious with other dogs around to build her confidence. She is fostering comfortably with dogs and cats.
Scarlett needs a home with at least one other confident, playful dog and a fenced yard. She is not suitable for a home with young children. She is a lovely girl with a long life ahead of her. She might never be a lap dog though. She needs a low key home where she can feel safe, play with other dogs and seek human connection on her own terms. The best things come to those who wait!

Dogs Deserve Better is a 501c3 nonprofit organization dedicated to freeing the chained or penned dog and bringing our best friend into the home and family.
Our mission is to provide a better life for abused, neglected and abandoned canines; especially those which are chained or penned without human companionship. We strive to accomplish this through advocating for humane legislation; promoting spay and neuter; educating communities on animal welfare; and rescuing and finding loving inside homes for canines.
