My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Nellie came to DDB on Christmas Eve with her 12 newborn puppies. Thanks to the generosity of some wonderful fosters, she was able to raise her famiily on a beautiful horse farm where there they got to grow and play with adults, kids, dogs (of ALL sizes), cats, horses and even a couple of miniature donkeys! While she loved life on the farm, the pups eventually grew up and now Nellie is ready to live her own life!

Nellie is a super friendly girl who loves to play with other dogs and snuggle with her people. As she has a large percent livestock guarding breed in her, she will often give a protective bark to strangers, but nobody stays a stranger long, as Nellie is a large percentage lovebug, too! Nellie is currently living at Southern Hospetality Dog Boarding and would LOVE the chance to live in a foster home - or better yet - a forever home! Dogs Deserve Better is a 501c3 nonprofit organization dedicated to freeing the chained or penned dog and bringing our best friend into the home and family.

Our mission is to provide a better life for abused, neglected and abandoned canines; especially those which are chained or penned without human companionship. We strive to accomplish this through advocating for humane legislation; promoting spay and neuter; educating communities on animal welfare; and rescuing and finding loving inside homes for canines.
