My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Teddy’s Backstory:
Teddy’s life before being Animal Saint’s care was one of neglect. His elderly person was too ill to take care of him, and it resulted in months of not being groomed and living in a crate. He is ready to live a life of freedom in a home with lots of attention and life outside of a crate!

Breed and Hair Notes:
Teddy has hair that grows and not fur. He is a stunning Shih Tzu, darling as darling can be. He has incredible hair, now that he’s had time to recuperate. We are letting it grow in all its Shih Tzu glory, and he gets a professional groom every month. PLEASE NOTE: his hair will grow indefinitely, and he will need professional grooming every 4-6 weeks. Only apply if you understand the additional maintenance and cost that these dear hair-not-fur souls need and are willing to commit to life for such care.

Get to Know Teddy:
Because of his past, Teddy needs an adopter that is willing to give him space and time to get settled into this new life he's been given. He is doing well in his foster home, and he is now seeking attention from them after weeks of rest after his surgeries. Due to the extreme neglect in his past, he had to have an eye removed from untreated dry eye. His sight is minimal out of his other eye, and he navigates well through sound and smell.

If Teddy needs to eat or needs something from you, he will let you know with his cute bark. He loves to go outside, and he is beginning to learn how to walk on a leash!

Teddy was recently neutered and received a compete dental cleaning and some tooth extractions. He's all up to date on his vaccines. His bloodwork is good. He's ready to go!

Ideal Home:
Snoopy needs an experienced dog parent who has the empathy to understand what trauma he endured in his past. He is so darling and sweet. He so wants to connect with his people. You will just need to give him time in order for this to happen. He is a laidback gent with a gentle soul and a lot of love to give.

He currently lives with other dogs and cats and lives peacefully with all of them. He tends to hang out by himself and sometimes with the quieter, older dogs in their home.

Because of his gentleness, he would be okay around children who were taught how to respect and touch a dog under supervision. Loving teenagers would be ideal.

We look forward to finding this gentleman the ideal family who is deserving of his gentleness. He's ready for his new life! Will it be with you?
