My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Here Ye, here Ye, The Dutchess is looking for her forever home!

Duchess is a 12-year-old, 8 lb long-haired beauty who was surrendered due to her former owner no longer being able to care for her.

Dutchess is a generally well-behaved and happy girl who is looking for a low-key laid-back home with a steadfast companion. Though Dutchess isn’t exactly royalty, she does have a fancy prance and looks rather royal when going on leisure walks (about half a mile), which she absolutely looks forward to. Her foster mom says she outwalks the other dogs and if you stop, she will tell you it’s time to keep walking! She also enjoys being out on the town in a stroller and does well riding in a car. She happily co-exists with canine fosters but has little interest in interacting with them. She has not been tested with cats or large dogs. She shows no interest in toys but shows extreme interest in treats and being petted. Her foster mom believes that she may not have been allowed on furniture in her previous life, but if you want a cuddle bug, she would be up for the privilege of sitting beside you or on your lap.

Duchess is house trained but will use a pee-pad in a pinch. She sleeps soundly in her crate, but she is also very open to sleeping in her owner’s bed if allowed. Given her naturally long coat, she loves a good daily brushing.

When she came to CRT, her poor mouth was full of rotted teeth and all of them had to be removed, so soft food is a must. Her foster mom gives her bite-sized freeze-dried treats as a reward which she manages well allowing her to enjoy the act of chewing. This little girl is overall healthy and has many years of love and companionship to give.

Duchess is spayed and up to date on her vaccinations. She has been fully vetted. She is heartworm negative and takes monthly heartworm preventative. Duchess has also been microchipped.

Duchess’ adoption donation is $250.00.

If you are interested in the above dog, please do not email us and tell us that you are interested, but submit an adoption application. The link for the application is below.

An application must be submitted and approved before a meet-n-greet can be scheduled.

Your current dogs/cats must be spayed or neutered unless a veterinarian has determined that your current pet(s) should not be fixed due to medical reasons. They must also be up-to-date on shots and on HW preventative.

Reference checks and a home visit are required so SE dogs can only be adopted in NC/SC, VA, TN, AL, MD and GA.

Additional adoption info

If you are interested in one of our dogs, please submit an application.

We require an adoption application, reference checks and home visit before adoption.

We also require that all current pets be UTD on shots, on HW preventative and spayed/neutered. Adoption fee is $250.00 for Chi's over 1 year of age and $300 for Chi's under 1 year of age. Other adoption listings are priced as is.

We do not set up a meet-n-greet with a dog without an approved application and a completed home visit. The process starts with an application on line and when the application and references have been checked, a home visit is required. After the HV report has been reviewed by our board, a meet-n-greet will be set up.
