Meet Harlow Paws Behind Bars Trained
Harlow is a 9-month-old German Shepherd Dog mix puppy. She currently weighs 44 lbs and should mature to 60+ lbs. She (and all her littermates) came to us when the family became overwhelmed with 6 growing puppies. She's great with the other dogs in the home and happy for the canine companionship! We have started to see glimpses of prey drive, so we are aiming for a home without cats or small dogs.
German Shepherds are a "working breed," so our recommendation will be older children only.
Her ideal home will be an active home. A fenced-in yard is needed. As she grows, her size and energy level will be well beyond the scope of leash walking. She is the perfect candidate for obedience training. German Shepherds are very intelligent dogs with a strong work ethic. They are usually not a good fit for the casual dog owner. They need plenty of time outside the home to build their social skills. They need plenty of mental stimulation to keep them focused on good manners and composure. They make excellent companions, if you have the time to dedicate to them. Her father is full German Shepherd. Her mother is a Hound/Shepherd mix so we're confident of Hattie's breed mix.)
IMPORTANT: Please Keep in mind Harlow is 9 months old with a life expectancy of 12 + years. Our guiding principle for adoptions is to seek the right fit for our rescues and the families, including a home that can stay committed to the animal for life.
If interested in adopting, our process begins with submission of OUR online application which can be found at www.adoptmebluegrasspetrescue.com. Additional adoption FAQ's can be found there also.
Meets will be set with approved applicants only. Thank you!
